Great Smoky Mountains National Park
During our stay in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we made several trips to witness the beauty of the mountains during a sunset or moonrise. Morton Overlook along the Newfound Gap Road is a great location to see the sunset. We parked along side a host of other sunset worshipers and photographers, Mike captured these beauties that you see below:
One evening the full moon was to rise early. We drove up to Clingmans Dome to check it out. As the moon was rising into the night sky, there was a cloud on full display with lightning animating it. Mike was able to capture this picture but nothing will be able to communicate the awesomeness of the experience in real life.
Although still in a learning phase for properly capturing the moon. We were happy with the starburst effect that his inexperience created.
We made three trips to Clingmans Dome. Our third visit was the best. The sky was clear and the sun was on full display. We were not disappointed. The pictures below were right from the parking lot.
We stayed at Clingmans Dome long after the sunset to watch the stars. Mike is still working on the proper camera setting for the night sky, but the following pictures are what we witnessed that night.
